People are always asking me why Zara don't do maternity clothing. For many of us Zara is our go-to, fail-safe destination for clothing and we know that no matter how desperate we are, Zara will never let us down at the final minute. This is why it was such a shock for me after I fell pregnant to learn that Zara in fact did not do materity clothing and that I could no longer rely on my favourite clothing store.
I remember trying to shop for maternity Christmas party outfits and I found it so stressful and difficult, I actually hated it.
The good news is that you can still wear some Zara clothing when you are pregnant. A lot of Zara's dresses are made in the same styles, and a lot of the time they just repeat these styles with different patterns or slight style tweaks.
For example, some of my go-to maternity dresses from
Zara would often include one of the below style types:
Shirt dresses
As long as these are not too fitted these work really well with a bump (usually size up)
Smock dresses
These floaty style dresses are perfect for pregnancy but you still need to ensure that they aren't too short, or they'll ride up too high over your bump
Stretch cami dresses
Always ensure that these are made with some sort of elastaine or stretch material. You can see this under "composition"
Dresses with elasticated waistbands
Often a-line style but with long sleeves and midi/maxi length
T-shirt style dresses -
Again as long as they aren't too short these work really well when pregnant
Dresses to avoid:
Anything with zips - sadly our growing bump can't usually accomodate zips unless it's very oversized
Anything that is fitted or tight and not a stretchy material such as elastaine or viscose
Anything too short
This week I have put together a list of the New-In Zara styles that I think would work perfectly with a growing bump for the party season, just remember to size up in these if your bump is on the larger side.
And a top tip - remember to order your party dresses early and try these on so that you're not stressing at the last minute for something to wear
SEQUINNED DRESS - £45.99 sizes: xs - xxl
I love this dress because it's not only comfortable with a relaxed fit but also super glamorous at the same time. In fact, all you would need to do is throw this dress on and you're already glam enough for any Christmas occasion - the perfect minimal effort look

SEQUINNED MIDI DRESS - £59.99
SIZES: XS - L
Similar to the above but in a white sequin finish with deep V neck, ultra comfy and sparkly enough for the holiday season

ASYMMETRIC CUT OUT DRESS. - £29.99
SIZES: S- L
I absolutely love this dress and was so happy when I checked and it was maternity-friendly. With a stretchy material and not a zip in sight this dress is sophisticated and sexy and perfect for the party season
SEQUINNED MINI HESSIAN DRESS WITH FRINGING - £49.99
SIZES: XS - XXL
This might be a little on the short side if your bump is quite large already, however for smaller bumps this dress would work perfectly. A perfect NYE outfit and silver is the key colour for this winter
SOFT MIDI DRESS- £29.99
SIZES: S - L
Bright red and super Christmassy, I love this oversized jumper dress with roll-neck detail.
Pair with a red lip and you're ready for the festivities to begin but also cosy and warm at the same time, it's a win-win!
VELVET SLIP DRESS - £89.99
SIZES: XS - XL
Nothing screams Christmas more than velvet and I'm loving this season's comeback. This cami-stretch dress is perfect for maternity as it's not only gorgeously figure hugging but velvet is also a very flattering material
FITTED DRESS WITH CUT OUT DETAIL - £25.99
SIZES: S - L
This stretch-jersey dress is figure hugging and sexy. It's perfect for a glam night out, just a shame that you'll probably be leaving at 9pm... Luckily this dress can be worn post-pregnancy too so definitely worth the money.
Pair with black leather boots for a more casual look
LONG KNIT DRESS - £35.99
SIZES: S - XL
A stunningly vibrant jumper dress with plenty of room for a bump. You wouldn't neccesarily need to size up in this dress unless you're in the last trimester and your bump is extra large.
Pair with knee high boots and blazer for a casual Christmas look or with heels and a red lip for an elevated look
KNIT MIDI DRESS WITH METALLIC THREAD - £49.99
SIZES: S - L
Sparkly, midnight blue and super comfortable. This roll-neck knit dress is perfect for a dressed-down glam look. This could work perfectly for an after-work occasion or casual Xmas nibbles and drinks (soft of course!)
SATIN STRAPPY SLIP DRESS - £45.99
SIZES: XS - XXL
If a dress could kill this would be it. This show-stopping satin cami dress is perfect for the holiday season, ultra glamorous AND pregnancy friendly. I would definitely size-up one or even two sizes in this to ensure a nice fit over your bump. Bear in mind that this dress is more tightly fitted around the bust and it's not particularly bra-friendly
POLKA DOT PRINT MIDI DRESS - £49.99
SIZES: XS - XXL
When I was pregnant this time last year I bought a dress almost identical to this for a friend's wedding and it worked perfectly. I was 7 months prengnant at the time so I was able to tie the belt above the bump which looked cute
LONG PLEATED KNIT DRESS - £49.99
SIZES: S - L
A gorgeous, figure-hugging knit dress with subtle patterned detail, this dress is slightly thinner than most knit dresses which means it would show off your figure and bump even more.
A maxi length too giving it more drama than most knit dresses
