MATERNITY FASHION NEEDED A RESET

As someone who likes to look stylish and has always made effort to dress well, when I fell pregnant for the first time in 2022 I was genuinely shocked by what passed as “maternity” clothes.

Everything I tried on seemed to fall into one of two categories: comfortable but frumpy, or vaguely stylish (and that is being generous) but completely impractical for an actual pregnant body.

It felt like maternity clothes were a tick-box exercise. Major brands would stock a few pieces to show they were being "inclusive" and the cool, fashionable brands wouldn't sell anything for pregnant women at all.

So, across my three pregnancies, I became slightly obsessed with finding a better way.

I searched for, tried and reviewed clothes for pregnant women who still wanted to feel stylish, confident and most importantly - like themselves.

And somewhere along the way, I realised the problem was much bigger than bad maternity jeans.

WHERE WERE ALL THE MATERNITY CLOTHES?

During a time when your body is changing more rapidly than perhaps ever before, when you have absolutely no idea what size you are or what is going to work on your new shape, you're expected to buy almost everything online?

Even some of the biggest retailers had removed maternity from their stores altogether.

Make it make sense.

Pregnant women hadn't stopped caring about fashion or how they look. We hadn't stopped going to dinners, meetings, parties, holidays or evenings out with friends.

We hadn't stopped wanting to look like ourselves.

The fashion industry simply chose to ignore us.

And when statistics show that almost 200 million women fall pregnant world-wide every single year, that's a pretty big audience to ignore.

So I decided to do something about it, while simultaneously raising a 3 year old, 15 month old and newborn baby  (yes I was a madwoman on a mission)

AND SO, NINE MONTHS OF STYLE WAS BORN.

But NMOS isn't about creating more maternity clothes.

It's a whole new category of clothing - pieces that grow with your body, whether that's bigger or smaller. It's about creating the pieces your wardrobe is missing while your body changes.

And it doesn't end at just pregnancy.
In my opinion, your body fluctuates throughout motherhood; in between babies, pregnancy, postpartum, breastfeeding and then finding yourself again.

So I am creating the wardrobe staples that work during pregnancy, postpartum and long after, with innovative design that means the clothes grow with your body.

Pieces designed around a changing body, without screaming MATERNITY.

And every detail comes from my own lived experience.

Our pieces are designed by a woman who has actually been pregnant, three times, and understands how important it is to still recognise the person looking back at you in the mirror when almost everything else is changing.

But the clothes are only the beginning.

THIS IS BIGGER THAN MATERNITY FASHION.

I want to change the way we see pregnant bodies.

I want women to walk into restaurants, parties and male-dominated offices with their bump on show and feel more powerful because of it - not as though they need to hide it.

I want pregnancy to give women a kind of confidence they didn't even know they had.

Because growing a human is iconic.

It's one of the most powerful things the human body can do.

So why aren't we celebrating it more?

Wear the clothes.
Free the bump.
Take up space.
Be unapologetically yourself.

Welcome to Nine Months of Style.

We're making motherhood ICONIC™
